It’s been another productive month for everyone at Engineius! We have introduced two new members to our Network Management team and our customer volumes have continued to grow. We have also started a trial of our new Retain Drivers Scheme.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without our efficient network of drivers that are hard at work in helping us reach our objectives and goals for 2021.

It is with great pleasure to announce our Driver of the Month for May, Paul Langton! Paul has been an excellent driver for us, providing reliability and consistency in each and every single movement which has enabled him to excel in his craft and passion for driving. As usual, we got in touch with our winner to find out a little bit more about them and their experiences with Engineius so far.

What do you love most about the job?

Flexibility is important to me, together with the variety of tasks available. I enjoy travelling to different parts of the UK, including busy cities and rural locations. Driving a range of vehicles, from luxury cars to decommissioned vans, is great, and I enjoy the freedom to take days and weekends off knowing there are always jobs on the system!

How do you ensure you deliver vehicles on time?

I reexamine the job, ensuring I check the drop-off time and connections associated with the movement. Prior to every journey, I ensure that I have sufficient knowledge and information about the journey routes, public transport information, and possible obstacles that may occur. Planning ahead always ensures that I can bring the best possible plan of action, allowing a greater understanding of the wide range of potential problems that can be faced en-route.

What has been your best experience with Engineius so far?

Being able to make an impact at the height of the pandemic allowed me to make a difference and contribute positively at a time of need. I had the opportunity to transport high importance vehicles through areas of Scotland, allowing me to enjoy the scenic location whilst providing an essential service. Working with Engineius has helped me to see new areas and travel to places that normal life would not take me!

How many miles do you do on average a week?

On average, I find myself doing an average of 750-1000 miles per week. It is often on long haul jobs that I exceed this number, however, the normal weeks would likely fall within this range.

What do you think are the secrets behind getting to where you’ve got to?

I have a hard-working nature which has allowed me to excel in the vehicle movement sector. Being willing and open to take on jobs and tasks that are challenging allows me to help others and enhance my career. I have a passion for automotive vehicles, which has allowed me to understand possible mechanical faults and be familiar with the nature of the vehicles that I am delivering. Also, being adaptable, using the Engineius portal efficiently, and always on call helps!

What drives you to succeed in this job?

I feel rewarded by playing my part in helping Engineius grow by delivering vehicles in a timely manner, and I am always open to taking on new responsibilities.

Do you reconcile your jobs and expenses on a regular basis?

I keep all my fuel expenses on one card, separate from other movement expenses. This allows me to easily identify my fuel and movement expenses after each job, which helps to keep track of the accounts that are to be reconciled. I always upload the fuel receipts at the time of the job.

What are you most excited for this year?

I was lucky enough to be part of the initial start-up team of five drivers at Engineius, and due to the astonishing rate of Engineius’ growth, I have been able to see the company develop. Simply, I am excited to witness and be part of the continued evolution of the company!

What makes Engineius a special place to work?

Engineius has an efficient Operations team, who provide support and in-depth knowledge about possible mishaps. This allows you to feel secure when embarking on long-haul tasks to unfamiliar locations, and provides a first port of call in times of need. Engineius has a sophisticated portal that allows access to tasks and jobs at any moment in time, which is highly intuitive on a smartphone.

What is the best advice you can give other drivers?

I highly advise planning ahead. This can mean mapping out journeys, both electronically and printed on paper, to ensure security and knowledge of routes. It is vital to stay connected to allow communication with the Operations team, so ensuring charging devices are packed and taken on each journey. Being flexible with job tasks will allow greater opportunities and planning ahead will ensure maximum efficiency in both time and fuel usage. I personally prefer to travel to a start location away from my hometown, which, in turn, allows the job to be directed towards home.

By winning Driver of the Month, you not only have the opportunity to feature on the company website, but you will also receive a brand new high-vis Engineius-branded jacket as a thank you from the Engineius team for all your hard work! Could you be our June Driver of the Month?
