On The Road: Calum Slowther

We are back with our On the Road series where our managing director, Calum Slowther, completed his very own vehicle movement from Rugby to Catford! 🚗

Check out how Calum’s experience went and ponder why his dream car is a G Wiz 👇

P.S. Calum’s interesting fact is pretty un-fore-gettable ⛳

Tell us more about what you do at Engineius?

I am very lucky to have recently been given the opportunity to lead Engineius as the new managing director. I joined the company as the first employee in March 2017 - nearly 5 years ago! It feels like full circle – I started off doing a bit of everything, then spent most of my time thinking about customers, and am now back where I started.

How did you find the trip overall?

Great! I had the pleasure of driving a 2011 Nissan Micra from Rugby to Catford in SE London (close to home).

What did you enjoy most about your trip?

Talking to the people at both ends. The man at the dealer site told me his full life story whilst handing over the keys and the woman I was delivering the vehicle to was very friendly. Taking a proper break in the middle at a service station also really helped.

Is there a location in the UK that you would like to travel through on your next job?

Norwich! I hear the Engineius East Anglian crew could do with a few extra pairs of hands some days and I would like go back to my roots and help out. If not, Cornwall would be great or Skye.

Any further comments?

It won’t be my last movement! I found the process of doing the movement very useful indeed and will be doing another one soon. The next one will be in full stealth mode to avoid any special treatment from my colleagues… 😄

What is your dream car?

It would have to be a G Wiz or an electric version of the Suzuki Jimny – the Jimn-E? I’m not hugely fussed about cars as you can tell and keep getting asked this question.

An interesting fact about yourself

I won the inaugural North Korean Mini Golf Championship in Pyongyang in 2015. The following day I came third in the full North Korea Amateur Golf Championship and played with the Mongolian ambassador to North Korea.

What did you do before Engineius?

I started my career in strategy consulting working mainly in retail, consumer goods and digital media. I stayed in media with both the European Tour and Discovery Channel (in Egypt) before beginning as Engineius’ first employee in March 2017.
