Driver Of The Month: August

We are hugely excited to announce Roger Smith as our Driver of the Month for August!

With a clear willingness to complete every job at the highest level, Roger has also been super helpful when liaising with Operations too, making their lives easier at every opportunity.

As the business prepares for a very busy September, it’s drivers like Roger who are helping Engineius achieve the results expected by customers and taking the business to the next level. So, from all the team here at Engineius, we say thank you, Roger!

We got in touch with him to find out a little bit more about his work with Engineius to date.

What do you love most about the job?

The reason I love working for Engineius is the flexibility it offers me. I am retired, so it suits my schedule well and it’s helpful to have the autonomy of choosing the days I work and the jobs I wish to take.

How do you ensure you deliver vehicles on time?

To ensure I arrive and deliver my jobs on time, I make a comparison between the automated Engineius ETA with my own estimate and then add on about an hour in total for before and after appraisals and photographs, together with a little extra for possible hold-ups. It also helps me to use a SatNav with live traffic updates.

What has been your best experience with Engineius so far?

It is difficult to pick one moment, but if I had to choose it would be when I discovered the range of vehicles I will be driving for the business! It’s an essential part of why I enjoy what I do and it’s always nice to find out how different vehicles work and navigate.

How many miles do you do on average a week?

I average anywhere between 300 to 400 miles per week. It varies every week due to my flexible hours, of course.

What do you think are the secrets behind getting to where you’ve got to?

I like to treat customers as I would expect to be treated myself. Some of these characteristics include being pleasant and courteous. I often have a habit of looking back on a delivery and assessing how it all went, highlighting any areas that could be improved upon or revised.

What drives you to succeed in this job?

Something important that drives me to succeed is reminding myself that I am not only representing Engineius, but also their customers. This mindset has helped me achieve more than what has been expected of me.

Do you reconcile your jobs and expenses on a regular basis?

Yes, I reconcile my expenses after every job I complete, whether it’s in the morning or evening. I have made this a ritual and it helps me stay on top of my finances.

What are you most excited for this year?

I’m looking forward to hopefully getting back to some sort of normality and having the freedom that comes with it. I am also excited about the continued expansion of Engineius and hope to continue to choose from the variety of work options available!

What makes Engineius a special place to work?

This is a similar answer to the first question, but the flexible hours on offer are a huge factor for me. The Operations team is always on the other side of the phone when you need them and I always get a very personable experience.

What is the best advice you can give other drivers?

Always make sure to get in touch with the collection and delivery contacts where possible. This can help you ensure that the vehicle is ready and available for collection, and expected for delivery at the right time, whilst checking the delivery address and time window.

By winning Driver of the Month, you not only have the opportunity to feature on the company website, but you will also receive a brand new high-vis Engineius-branded jacket as a thank you from the Engineius team for all your hard work! Could you be our September Driver of the Month?
