Driver Of The Month: February

Kim_Freddie.jpg

After much debate for February's winner of our Driver of the Month award, it became clear who ticked all the boxes with Engineius. So, without further ado, a huge congratulations to our winner: Kim Williams!

Since joining in June last year, Kim has been on our Network Management team’s radar ever since, delivering a consistently high-end service for our customers. Kim’s relationship with operations has gone from strength to strength, and the team is excited to continue working alongside her even more in 2021.

As usual, we got in touch with our winner and spoke to Kim about her time with Engineius to date.

What do you love most about the job?

I enjoy the flexibility of the job! I also like the travelling aspect, as I get to see parts of the country I wouldn't normally visit.

I have two dogs, both under 12 months, so being able to choose when and where I work makes it ideal for me so that I don’t have to leave them for too long. My partner and I plan our work schedule around them and working for Engineius means I am able to be as flexible as possible.

How do you ensure you deliver vehicles on time?

Planning!  I ensure I get to the pick-up location as close to the pick-up time as possible, to give me plenty of time to get to the drop-off point.

What has been your best experience with Engineius so far?

Getting to travel the country, without a doubt. I’ve been to the Isle of Weight for the first time through a job with Engineius. Sadly, due to lockdown, I didn’t get to enjoy my wait for the ferry as I would have liked to, but hopefully, in the future, I can get another trip over there and can spend some time on the beach before travelling back!

How many miles do you do on average a week?

Each week can be different, and be anywhere between 500-1500 miles, depending on my schedule.

What do you think are the secrets behind getting to where you’ve got to?

I believe it’s down to planning as discussed, checking for travel updates, and communicating with the Engineius team and the customers. These are all essential for a successful day. Communication is key, and I’ve built a good relationship with Operations, and the customer pick-up and drop-off sites.

What drives you to succeed in this job?

I really enjoy the work. Driving, travelling and the relationships i’ve built up with the team and other drivers is great. I also enjoy earning the money as its been a lifesaver over the past 9 months!

Do you reconcile your jobs and expenses on a regular basis?

Yes - every day. I keep my receipts and update my accounts/diary when travelling home in the afternoons

What are you most excited for this year?

I’m mainly looking forward to lockdown ending so life and work can get back to full swing!

What makes Engineius a special place to work?

The fact I can pick and choose my work schedule! It’s taken a bit of time to meet the other drivers as we’re so spread out across the country, but the ones I have got to know I have a great relationship with, and we all help each other out.

What is the best advice you can give other drivers?

It’s simple - plan and keep in touch with the office! It makes your life a lot easier. Also, just make sure to enjoy your days and don't get too stressed! As everyone says, plan your days in advance and its plain sailing :)

By winning Driver of the Month, you not only have the opportunity to feature on the company website, but you will also win £20 in One4all vouchers. Keep up the great work and who knows, you may be our March Driver of the Month!
