Paul Langton 🏆

What do you love most about the job?

Above all, I love the flexibility of working for Engineius as you can plan your day from start to finish.

I have been able to carry a vehicle over to start really early or to start work at midday and contact a customer or an engineer to find the best time for delivery.

I love visiting areas I haven’t been to, especially in the North of England. Even after four years, there is always somewhere that you have never heard of or would never usually visit.

How do you ensure you deliver vehicles on time?

I always start really early, and I prefer fleet movements.

Always listen to travel announcements on the radio, consider rail strikes, and bus and tube strikes.

Please speak to the customer to ensure that they are aware of the delivery time before setting off and leaving clear texts.

What has been your best experience with Engineius so far?

Delivering fleet vehicles in remote parts of Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Fantastic scenic journeys near lochs and mountain ranges, some during the pandemic.

How many miles do you do on average a week?

It varies a lot, but I tend to do 700 to 1500 miles a week on average - I generally prefer long-haul jobs.

What do you think are the secrets behind getting to where you’ve got to?

Being focused on the whole movement and thinking about what might go wrong with any pick-up or drop-off.

Phone ahead to ensure a vehicle is at the site and get people’s names as a reference.

What drives you to succeed in this job?

I actually love the whole process of picking a job and trying to join it, sometimes over three days, after a while, you remember postcodes and train stations that are key to the movement 💡

Do you reconcile your jobs and expenses on a regular basis?

Yes, this is a really important part for me. I spend time working out the expenses and journey times and note the more expensive destinations to return from.

What are you most excited about this year?

I look forward to working for Engineius for another year and increasing my income for the future! 🤩

What makes Engineius a special place to work?

The operations team are really good and always tries to solve any problems.

The day-to-day contact with fellow drivers to help with advice and drop-off times.

What is the best advice you can give other drivers?

Plan ahead, don’t risk it when a fuel light is on and always carry backup phone chargers and cables.

Always carry your driving license, ID and backup contactless cards.

By winning Driver of the Month or our two fantastic categories, you not only have the opportunity to feature on the company website, but you will also receive a brand new high-vis Engineius-branded jacket as a thank you from the Engineius team for all your hard work! Could you be our October Drivers of the Month?
