Driver information on COVID-19
What is a contactless handover and why is it needed?
A contactless handover should allow a vehicle to be handed over to the end customer while maintaining social distancing. A successful contactless handover removes the chance of the coronavirus being spread or transmitted via any vehicle movement, protecting both drivers and customers from unnecessary risks.
Even if government guidelines around coronavirus are changed, contactless handovers will remain in place for a much longer period of time. It makes sense to minimise any chance of the coronavirus spreading, even if that chance is very small, by following the same process.
What steps need to be taken to keep you and our customers safe?
You should wear a mask throughout the vehicle movement process, all the way from entering the pick-up location to leaving the drop-off location.
At third-party pick/up and drop-off locations, you will need to follow the specific on-site rules and guidelines closely, which may be different from site to site.
When you arrive at any pick-up or drop-off location, please:
Disinfect or wipe down the ‘touch points’ on the vehicle;
Steering wheel
Information/entertainment console
Indicators and other control switches
Gearstick/handbrake (if appropriate)
Door handle
As you would anyway, make sure that there is nothing left within the vehicle;
Follow all site rules and procedures where it is a business site.
During the vehicle handover itself, please:
Ensure that you are wearing a mask throughout;
Introduce/announce yourself to the end customer but please stay socially distanced in general;
Sign on behalf of the customer, writing their name and then ‘COVID19’ to make clear you have signed.
Please remember that Engineius will reimburse you for the reasonable cost of masks or wipes that you use if you submit the receipts in your expenses.
