Driver Of The Month: February 2023

Congratulations to our driver of the month, George Coleman and our other category winners - Iain and Jonathan.

George has won this month due to his can-do attitude, and when he commits to a job, he never lets Engineius or our customers down.

Thank you all for your hard work from both Engineius and our customers.

George Coleman 🏆

What do you love most about the job?

The best thing about this job is the variety from day to day, and seeing parts of the country you wouldn’t usually visit.

How do you ensure you deliver vehicles on time?

Planning ahead is key - knowing where you are going and how you are getting to and from the location is very important.

In practice, things tend to go wrong with the British Transport system, especially if you’re in a hurry! So allowing for that in between jobs is (unfortunately) necessary.

What has been your best experience with Engineius so far?

The few jobs I’ve done down in Cornwall spring to mind.

Driving around the Cornish countryside in the summer sun doesn’t particularly feel like work sometimes! ☀️

How many miles do you do on average a week?

It varies greatly from week to week. Probably somewhere around 500 miles. I think the most I have done in a week is 2000.

What do you think are the secrets behind getting to where you’ve got to?

I don’t think there are any secrets, I just try to work hard and stay positive. Things don’t always go to plan, so communicating and having a good relationship with the ops team is always helpful.

Be good to them, and they’ll look after you.

What drives you to succeed in this job?

In other professions I’ve had, you don’t always see a direct result of your hard work, but delivering to a happy customer and completing multiple jobs in a day is always a good feeling 😊

Do you reconcile your jobs and expenses on a regular basis?

I try my best to do this every two weeks, but when it’s busy, that doesn’t always happen.

What are you most excited about this year?

Looking forward to summer and not having to wear three jumpers to work! The early starts are much harder in the winter. 🥶

I have a few festivals and holidays on the calendar for the first time in a few years that I’m excited about. 🗓️

What makes Engineius a special place to work?

The freedom it allows with my time. I can go flat out one week and then take the time when I need it.

What is the best advice you can give other drivers?

Stay calm when things go wrong and do your best to work with the operations team to come up with a solution.

Some things are obviously out of your control, but staying positive and thinking on your feet usually helps find the solution quicker.

Our other two winners 🎉
