Driver Of The Month: January 2023
Congratulations to our driver of the month, Chris Evans and our other category winners - Daniel and Gary. Thank you all for your hard work from both Engineius and our customers.
Chris exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated and professional driver. He recently received glowing feedback from one of our customers for his quick thinking and initiative in identifying damage while making a delivery in the dark. We are proud to have Chris on our team, thank you and well done!

Chris Evans 🏆
What do you love most about the job?
I am lucky to work with a great bunch of people, which makes the job all that more enjoyable 😊
I love the fact that no day is the same, and oddly I enjoy the challenge of trying to plan the more remote trips. I like that if you are willing to go that extra mile, you are duly rewarded and ultimately, there is very little to no stress in this role.
I have worked for over 30 years now, and at times I have done jobs I have not enjoyed, but I can safely say this is the best job I have had in all that time.
How do you ensure you deliver vehicles on time?
It is all to do with the planning, right down to the detail of where I am going to wash the car and having a list of at least 3 charging locations to try and limit the waiting.
Sometimes things happen that are out of your control, and in these circumstances it's important to keep the customer up-to-date.
What has been your best experience with Engineius so far?
Getting accepted for employment with Engineius and working with the team make it all that more enjoyable.
How many miles do you do on average a week?
I probably drive around 750 to 1000 miles a week - it all depends on what jobs I am given.
What do you think are the secrets behind getting to where you’ve got to?
Being prepared to go that extra mile, I am always willing to do extra work.
I don't really mind what time I get home during the week, but it’s always nice to finish at a reasonable time on Friday so I can join my friends down at the pub and play some pool 🎱
What drives you to succeed in this job?
Since I started working with my mum, making beds at the local Pontins 30-odd years ago, I have always tried to do the best in every job I have done and continue to do so in this role.
This drive to succeed is helped by how much I enjoy the job.
Do you reconcile your jobs and expenses on a regular basis?
Yes, I have a spreadsheet set up week-by-week to help me check off my expenses as the invoices come through.
I am also hoping this system will make it easier when I come to do my tax return. Time will tell on that one!!! ⏰
What are you most excited about this year?
Just the usual things like holidays, not that I have any booked at the moment! I also love the summer so I can go sailing ⛵️
I guess I am just looking forward much the same as last year, I lead quite a simple life.
What makes Engineius a special place to work?
The people. I am lucky enough to work with a great team at the Gefco site in Sheerness.
It is always good to catch up with them when our paths cross, and we are always willing to help each other out whenever possible. You struggle to get that in other workplaces.
We are also very lucky to have a great Manager, which makes a world of difference in any job.
What is the best advice you can give other drivers?
If you are new - stick with it and never be afraid to ask for help or advice.
As I always used to say "the only stupid question is the question you don’t ask"
