Employee of the Month: Pete McGann 🎉

Congratulations to Pete McGann, our Senior Software Developer, who has been awarded Engineius’ Employee of the Month! 🥳

Pete is one of our longest-working employees who has has built many technical solutions to help grow the business over the years. He is fantastic in supporting the team day-to-day and always on hand to help and support colleagues.

Pete’s most interesting read this week was something “out of this world.” Wouldn’t you like to know what that could be? Scroll down to find out… 👇

What do you do for Engineius?

I'm a senior software developer, it's my job to either implement new features for the company web portal, or fix bugs with existing functionality.

My most recent large function piece was the RingCentral integration, but I've also created many other smaller features.

For example, the User Management Report, Priority Deployment Flagging, Linking Incidents to Service Delivery Groups, Self-Billing Automatic Reminders and fixed some minor issues 🔨

What motivates you to do well in your role?

I like knowing that what I'm doing is helping people to do their jobs more effectively, I also just enjoy creating systems in general.

Engineius is a good company to work for too, which also motivates me to do a good job for them.

What Spotify playlist do you listen to in the car the most?

I have my own 'darkwave' playlist, with music from quite random bands like SDH, Fields of the Nephilim, Drab Majesty, Sisters of Mercy, Margaritas Podridas, etc.

What do you like most about working for Engineius?

There are always new challenges at Engineius, which as a software developer is great as it keeps you thinking and fully occupied throughout the day - they just fly by!

I also feel that everyone who works here is friendly, has a good attitude and are generally working towards the same goals; it's a good culture and a great improvement over some companies I've worked for (naming no names of course).

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

I would probably say reading books đź“š

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?

I read a lot of books about 'paranormal' issues and occurrences, this week I've been reading the Dyfed Enigma, which is about a spate of 'UFO' sightings in Wales in the mid to late 70s, including a daylight sighting by multiple schoolchildren and teachers of an unknown object 🛸

All interesting stuff!

Describe one thing you've learnt in your role?

I've learned many things in my role here, not least some of the challenges facing a logistics company with a unique platform like Engineius.

What’s the most useless talent you have?

I can switch from the Ta'al to the inverse Ta'al without touching my fingers, does that count? 🤔
