On the Road: Donovan Daker
Introducing Donovan Daker, our newly promoted network handler manager! Don is a key member of the Engineius team, with his key responsibility supporting our drivers after they have completed over 10 movements for the company.
Don has worked with Engineius since August 2020 and has seen the business rapidly grow. Now, in his new role, he is helping scale our supplier network even more.
Did you know that Don once drove 200 miles for a takeaway? No? Well, read on about his foodie story a bit further down… 🗺️🍗
Tell us more about what you do at Engineius?
I am the business’ network handler manager.
I lead our group of network handlers who are responsible for ensuring that drivers are highly satisfied on a daily basis.
We manage the relationship and build a rapport to ensure our drivers’ time with us is as smooth as possible.
It’s a new role in the business so it’s very exciting! 🤩
What did you do before Engineius?
I’ve worked in lots of roles over the years - too many to name! But for big companies such as Virgin Media, Amazon and the RAC.
How did you find the trip overall?
Funnily enough, this was in fact my 10th movement for Engineius.
Each one has been enjoyable - I’ve found myself in South Wales one day and Central London the next. This one was particularly great as my drop-off point was near the beach.
What did you enjoy most about your trip?
I drove an electric van from Stafford to the South Coast. That was an amazing experience as it was my first time driving an EV, and now I’m tempted to buy one! 🔌
Is there a location in the UK that you would like to travel through on your next job?
Not particularly - I’m happy to travel anywhere!
What is your dream car?
It has to be a nitrous blue Focus RS.
An interesting fact about yourself?
I travel all around the UK to try different foods.
I’ve travelled to Stockton on Tees to try a chicken parmo which is famous in that region - the owners of the pub were amazed that I had travelled nearly 200 miles one way for a takeaway.
I also travel down to East London regularly for a delicious hot chocolate (Dark Sugars) from time to time… 🍫
